Monthly traffic Each time a surfer visits your site, the pages and images on your site are uploaded to his computer. This generates traffic on the network. Development

Typo3 compatible Dynamic generation of contents Graphical menus can be generated automatically, either with "layers" containing background images or with text, copy/tracing, underlying objects. When pages are created, changed or deleted, the menu is automatically regenerated. TYPO3 is known for its high-performance image generation engine, which has made it unique even today in the world of CMS (ATTENTION: the graphics engine will only work if certain programs are available on the production server). Generating images Images are directly regenerated if dimensions are changed, and not resized using HTML code (which changes their size on the last page but doesn't change their « weight » in any way). Authors have no need whatsoever of any technical or graphics skills. All they need to do is to download the images directly from a scanner, a CD or a digital camera and TYPO3 will take care of generating the images, optimising them for the web. Finally, even non-web graphical formats (TIF, AI, PDF, PCX etc.) are accepted (ATTENTION: the graphics engine will only work if certain programs are available on the production server). Intelligent technology: "Magick Image" Like many quality CMS, TYPO3 includes a HTML WYSIWYG editor. However unfortunately this tool sometimes gives too much scope to the user and so is in opposition to the logic of templates. The author can in fact modify images erroneously... Fortunately it is possible to change the dimensions intelligently and correct images that are out of proportion. The IMageMagick library is not available on our servers, but the GD2 library can replace it without any problems. TypoScript templates engine Typo3 has its own templates engine (which is based on its own language: TypoScript). This language gives you greater flexibility, thus allowing you to customise your settings down to the slightest detail (browser management, client pages with access depending on IP or DN). Lastly the templates engine can handle PHP scripts as it can follow the logic. Hierarchical structure All objects (pages and entries) are organised in a tree very similar to the file manager for a computer (files, directories...). Not only are you already familiar with this concept, but what is more it is the only organisational concept that allows clear structuring of a large number of pages. Multiple sites TYPO3 was designed to be able to generate an almost unlimited number of sites or projects within a single TYPO3 installation, which makes it a perfect business tool for managing inter/intra and extranets. For example numerous small sites managed by an ISP can use the same database... which reduces the expense for managing the servers and hence costs for the ISP, as is well known. Editing static templates TYPO3 is based on entries in databases for building its templates, but it is also configured to function with "static templates", which are HTML pages that can be edited thanks to the WYSIWYG HTML editor. So TYPO3 has no difficulty managing special pages (special graphics, different pages of the underlying template). Open and efficient architecture TYPO3 offers a flexible and open architecture based on the '"open source" standards using one of the most popular server languages: PHP4. This will allow you to find help easily at one of the 8 million sites programmed in PHP4... Create sites more quickly A team of developers can create a complex site in a few hours (or in a few days at the most). This is made possible by the fact that TYPO3, even if it was developed taking the needs of the author into consideration, incorporates numerous concepts that allow a professional to progress faster by avoiding repetitive steps. Lastly, on account of its logic in separating background and form, TYPO3 wont be disturbed by any last minute changes ... ;-D Change on all levels TYPO3 is easy to modify and adapt as you need it. The architecture not only allows you to manage your data, but also to integrate your own scripts, classes and functions as well as your own modules or third-party applications (web sites, applications, new tables, databases...). And for the pros of the keyboard and the notebook, it is entirely conceivable to change the source code for the system thanks to class extension ability without losing integration with TYPO3. Modular The modular structure of TYPO3 in no way means extra costs for time or material. TYPO3 offers a large range of extensions that are all free and easy to install (cf. extension manager). The great advantage of these extensions is that they are only activated as you need them, so that the server isnt loaded unnecessarily. After all its possible for developers to create their own extensions. A single procedure for cache memory management Dynamic management of contents sometimes requires procedures that take up a lot of memory. The output of TYPO3 has thus been optimised to make up for this substantial demand on memory. Management of data for the display is executed in its entirety upon request by a page, and then put in the cache so that this operation doesnt have to be repeated. This procedure is applied to all the pages, on whatever level, menus and dynamic pages included. But the efficiency of the TYPO3 processes doesnt stop at that. Several edit modes available Authors can control editing of contents either from the backend (inside the site) or from outside the site (the frontend). The latter work environment is extremely intuitive, you only need to connect (user and password) and browse the site until you find the page that needs to be changed. Once you are at the page and the changes have been made, you need to save your work and thats all there is to it! This technology is the same as that used by high-end dynamic content management systems such as RedDot SmartEdit. Multi-format search engine The problem with large sites is that users can easily get lost in the jungle of their pages. To rectify this disadvantage TYPO3 has an integrated search engine that is capable of searching through all document formats (pdf, html, word, forum...). Sizeable community TYPO3 unites a considerable community of developers in the world who themselves have customers in all imaginable domains. This variety and profusion alone ensure long-term modern development of TYPO3 at the same standard as the top CMS on the market that are only available for a charge. All without cost! TYPO3 is a program that is under GNU/GPL licence. For this reason TYPO3 charges NOTHING for the licence (as opposed to its commercial competitors). TYPO3 was created in a sense of sharing which doesnt restrict web agencies work (they can quietly "make" money with TYPO3 from the point when they are only "selling" their work based on TYPO3 and NOT TYPO3 !). Joomla compatible Joomla!, a CMS gaining ever more fans and which is set apart from the Nukes, Xoops, eXoops, Zope... by its modularity and from Typo3 by its simplicity of use and administration « I click, therefore I encode». Joomla! is, in a continuation of Mambo, a user-friendly, powerful and ergonomic CMS, adapted to showcase, commercial, associative, institutional or community sites. Its administration menu presents content management elements rather than software functionalities. For example, the admin menu bar presents a choice between "Articles, News, Main menu, Surveys..."Even without being familiar with the CMS, it is easier to understand how to create menus and sub-menus, how to add components and modules and how to publish news. As Joomla developers maintain, lots of people appreciate its ability to allow the user to edit contents "without being a rocket scientist". "The fact that it removes barriers for people who would never have been considered capable of writing on the Web fast and simply, is the most attractive feature for those who use Joomla!" Perl 5.8.8 Perl means Practical Extraction and Report Language. It is a script language which allows dynamic pages to be created (which change depending on actions by the surfer). Perl is mainly used to develop CGI scripts, but its relatively complex syntax as compared to ASP and PHP makes it less and less popular as a language.
